Week 6 in the Standard Chartered Bank

(Week6) Sunday 20-03-2011

Today I had the feedback about the Credit Card Commentary, he asked me to change some points, but overall the report is very good and my Excel skills are excellent. So I start to change the points.  

(Week6) Monday 21-03-2011

Today I completed the Credit Card Commentary and submitted to him, he was discussing the report with the Credit Card team. The CC team was very happy and they appreciate my work.  

(Week6) Tuesday 22-03-2011

This day was very important day because Mr. Aasim will present the project to SCB management with my name on the report. I was so happy about that because I felt that I achieved another step in my internship.

(Week6) Wednesday 23-03-2011

This day I moved again to work with Mr.Faraz to have my next assignment, but he was busy and he asked me to wait for a while!

I was waiting till 1:00, after that I went again to him and he gave me a Document for mortgage loan Quality Assurance check. Mr.Faraz explained the purpose of these Docs and asked me to have at least 3 additional positive points on the mortgage QA checklist.

(Week6) Thursday 24-03-2011

 I finished my reading on the mortgage QA checklist and I had some questions, but Mr.Faraz wasn’t here. I went to Ms.Meeta to ask her to give me work to do, she asked me to complete khadija’s work on CCPL approval checklist.

I start working on the CCPL approval and I completed around 100 companies from the list

Week 5 in the Standard Chartered Bank

(Week5) Sunday 13-03-2011

Today I’ll work on totally new project for SCB called Credit Commentary on Credit Card with Mr. Aasim. It was a big challenge for me because I have to do it with new employee called Alya, she’s from Sharjah, and she studied travel and tourism and she’s having a trainee for 6 month with SCB. I was hard because I am not expert on Credit Card and she doesn’t have any background on this sector. But we started putting the data.

I suppose to work on Credit Commentary with Alya but she was absent, so Mr. Aasim told me to continue working on it alone and he told me that he trust me and I can do it. I was nervous and at same time very happy that they trust my ability.

I was completing my work on Credit Commentary.

(Week5) Wednesday 16-03-2011

Today I finished the half part of Credit Commentary and I was very good for me and Mr. Aasim appreciated my work and encouraged me to try and finalized by end of this week

 Today I finalized the report and I was waiting for Mr. Aasim’s feedback but he was on a meeting till 6:30 pm.

Week 4 in the Standard Chartered Bank

(Week4) Sunday 6-03-2011

This day was the worst day ever, because they were restructuring our workstations and changing the places. I was looking for my table for almost 3 hours!

By end of the day I finalized the summery and I was waiting to submit and present it to the landing manager. Tomorrow I’ll start working on the PL (personal loan) with Ms. Meeta.

I suppose to work on the personal loan, but Ms. Meeta told me she don’t have anything for me!

After that Mr. Faraz told me to work and help Khadija with her assignment because they don’t have any plan for me this week, which was strange because I had my weekly plan but unfortunately I wasn’t working as my weekly plan.   

(Week4) Tuesday 8-03-2011

Today I was working on company verification regarding the credit card with Mr. Aasim. I liked the work because Mr. Aasim gave me the chance to decide if the SCB will give a credit card for a customer depends on their company’s portfolio.

(Week4) Wednesday 9-03-2011

Today I finished the checking list for company verification. After that Ms. Meeta asked me to prepare question paper for a 10th of March Game, this game only for the Credit Card & Collection Department. I also met Zuwena and Heba from CB Academy and they asked me if I need any help or if I have any issue with the department.

 I was absent because I had problems with AD RTA regarding my car.

My Third Week in SCB

As my work plan, I supposed to work in “review sample application for Home Suite” but unfortunately the team was very busy, so Mr. Faraz gave me Abu Dhabi market report Q4 2010to read and writes the advantage and disadvantage of financing in Abu Dhabi.

Today I was completing my analyses on AD Market; I was looking in 3 agencies, compare between them and give my opinion about the best report with reasons. I completed 2 out of 3 and I gave it to Mr.Faraz to have his feedback which was positive.

(Week3) Wednesday 2-03-2011

I want through the last agency and report it, than I had permission to go to DWC to have my enrollment conformation done. After that I was writing my summery about the best agency.

I was very excited because Mr. Faraz told me that I have to present my summery to the Landing Manager Mr. Pharat.

(Week3) Thursday 3-03-2011

 This was my busiest day because the head management decided to re-structure and squeeze the department, so Mr. Faraz was very busy I couldn’t reach him. After that I went to Mr. Aasim the head of credit card policy and ask him if he can assign any work for me.

I was very happy because he was kind and helpful because he gave me a brief introduction about the credit card and what are the features that they look at to approve for an application form.

Week two in the Standard Chartered Bank

(Week2) Sunday 20-02-2011

Today was I start writing my assignment which was a summary of Dubai and Abu Dhabi property profiling at 8:30 and I finished my task at 9:45, before I submit it I review the task with Mr. Anu, he told me it’s wrong I shouldn’t write it in this way !!!

I was waiting for Mr.Faraz to finish his meeting and I went to him and ask him about the assignment, I was surprised because he was happy and told be me what I did was excellent but I have add few things.

I finished the whole assignment and submit it.

(Week2)Monday 21-02-2011

I supposed to present my first assignment to the Landing manger Mr. Pharat, but unfortunately he wasn’t there for a reason, so I’ll present it tomorrow and for the rest of the day I was reading about the DOI for my next assignment.

I was boring document, but at the same time it’s very important to know the policies especially the basics.

(Week2)Tuesday 22-02-2011

Today also I supposed to present the assignment but I didn’t know what happen and my supervisor was busy. So I completed my reading of the DOI document and I was happy because some of terms which I studied before and some other new vocabulary. It was long day full of vocabulary. Before DOE Mr. Faraz gave me book called “Pocket Presenter” by Nail Flett and he told me to read and prepare for the presentation.  

(Week2)Wednesday 23-02-2011

I was waiting to Mr.Faraz to submit my second assignment. At same time I was reviewing the new terms and suddenly Mr. Faraz came with the landing manager Mr. Pharat and asked me to start the presentation.

Although I wasn’t ready, but I start the presentation and I explained all the points, Mr.Pharat was shocked from my presentation and he was happy about it.

He also asked me some question about the presentation and I answered them clearly and then he asked Mr. Faraz to put the Dubai Map property profiling on the wall.

I was my biggest day everyone in the department was looking at me I was proud on myself like always.

Today I submitted my assignment and Mr. Faraz give me the feedback about the task, so I change some points and submitted as final draft.

I was waiting for my mentor Mr. Tridib Chatterji from DWC to meet Mr. Faraz. I was nervous because I was thinking about what will be the first feedback and how I did in my first two weeks.

After the meeting Mr. Tridib meet with my classmate and I to give us some advices I was so happy I felt like am n DWC with my teacher who’s love me and advice and push me to be better person.

I decided to work harder than before and be memorable in my organization.       

  

      

  

Week one in the Standard Chartered Bank

 (Week 1) Sunday 06-02-2011

My teachers and classmate told me I should be at least 15 minutes before the time and the first expression also very important so I arrived at 8:30, I went to meet my adviser there called zwayna she is from SB Academy than she send me to girl called Heba. I was nervous as any new employee coming to a new work place but when Heba spooked to me I felt like I am with my teachers who’s always supporting me and advise me in my first step in every project or assignment . I was very excited about my new work with new people in new environment.  

My self and Heba were waiting for my classmate khadeja after that we went to Credit department where I’ll have my internship there. First person who welcomed me called Ms. Meeta head policy- personal and Auto loan product.

I was waiting for my supervisor Mr. Faraz Khalid head policy- mortgages, till 10:30 which gave me a bad idea about him that he’s not on time. I asked Ms. Meeta to have overview about my department especially about mortgages, so she introduce me to Mr. Anu Varghese Real estate Technical Surveillance Officer, he was very fast person and he immediately gave me brief summery about the mortgage because it wasn’t his job and then he introduce their new project to me. I was shocked, nervous and happy that they trust me and trust my ability, so this project was my first challenge in SCB.

Finally, I saw my supervisor Mr. Faraz Khalid he spoke to me for a while and told me about this position and my challenge as being part of the project. To be continued…

(Week 1) Monday 07-02-2011

My second day was the most trouble day in my whole week because Mr. Faraz gave me the Consumer Banking Credit Policy (CBCP), it was around 85 pages!!. I spent my day reading the policy without understanding any single word. I tried to ask but every time I was looking around me to ask someone I couldn’t because all of them were busy on their work.   

 (Week 1) Tuesday 08-02-2011

 Again, I start reading about the policy and after 3 minutes I stopped, felt like I want to cry because it was very difficult and hard to understand most of words. I was disappointed, so I went directly went to Ms. Zwayna and asked her to change my department; I told her that I can’t stay in this environment. She was listening to me and I am just talking and talking without break, but when I stopped she challenge me and told me I know you can do it and I trust you. She also told me to give myself one more chance, I did as she told me to do and went to Mr. Faraz to change the CBCP and I asked him to give me the mortgage policy, after that I went through the policy document it was clear and easy to understand, moreover, I was asking about things which make me confuse. EOD I changed my mind about changing my department I decided to stay and tell everyone about who I am and what my abilities are. Finally, in my third learned that if I want to understand and improve my skills in this area or any area I have to ask as much as I can.

(Week 1) Wednesday 09-02-2011

Last day in my week one in SCB, now I know almost half of the Credit department employees which is good thing. Moving to working part I got my first assignment which was Dubai & Abu Dhabi property profiling. Basically, it’s about knowing where the most financed areas in both cities are and what the total outstanding of these financed projects is. My second assignment was to write a summery about the trends in financed areas which I have to submit it on Sunday.
